CSP is a large-scale proven technology for generating electricity using the power of the sun. The principle of generating electricity by CSP is simple: focus sunlight with mirrors to create heat for driving a generator via steam or other method. CSP uniquely has the option of dispatchable power generation by natural (or other) gas.
Developing a CSP system requires automation in many operations-- from axis movement to electronic controls. If backup or standby functionality is desired, the system must be able to disconnect from the grid. Ideally power factor correction should also be integrated into the system.
